Multiple charges for prohibited driver
A 40-year-old male faces multiple charges after being stopped by Police Wednesday night.

At approximately 11:30 PM, Police observed a black SUV traveling westbound on Wellington Street near Imperial Road, drifting back and forth between lanes and accelerating up to 100 KM/HR in a posted 70 KM/HR zone.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver was observed to have trouble focusing, staring off into the distance, and reacting slowly to the officer’s requests. Upon being asked to exit the vehicle the driver was observed to be unsteady on his feet.

It was learned that the driver had a condition on their license that they must have an ignition interlock on the vehicle they are operating, and the SUV did not have a device present.

The driver was arrested for Operation While Impaired and Operation While Prohibited and transported to the Guelph Police Station.

The driver was charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – 80Plus, and Operation While Prohibited – Ignition Interlock Condition.

The male had his license suspended and vehicle impounded according to relevant statute and was later released with a court date of May 30th, 2025.
