What to Expect During Your Call
The dispatcher will ask if you need police, fire rescue or ambulance. Remember to stay calm on the phone.
If you ask for police, they will ask you for the location of the emergency and create a call for service. If your emergency is outside of the City of Guelph we will transfer your call to the appropriate police service or ask you for more information.
Accidental 911 Calls
The Guelph Police Service received over 14,000 abandoned 911 calls in 2021. This continues to be a huge problem that ties up valuable resources and prevents people with critical emergencies from reaching 911. The Guelph Police Service needs YOU to help prevent these types of calls.
