BC male arrested in Guelph
A British Columbia male faces charges after a stolen van was located at a Guelph motel.
Just before 7 a.m. Tuesday, a Guelph Police Service officer on patrol queried a licence plate on a Dodge Caravan parked at a north-end motel. The van had been stolen Sunday from an address in Wellington County.
A 23-year-old British Columbia male is charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possessing stolen property over $5,000. He will appear in a Guelph court July 29, 2022.
Prohibited driver arrested
An Orillia male was arrested and got his mother’s car impounded following a traffic stop in Guelph Tuesday.
Approximately 9:45 a.m, the Guelph Police Service was notified of a possibly impaired driver leaving a business on Eramosa Road. A traffic stop was conducted downtown a few minutes later.
Investigation revealed the driver is bound by an indefinite prohibition from driving as a result of Criminal Code convictions.
A 35-year-old Orillia male is charged with driving while prohibited and driving while suspended. He will appear in a Guelph court July 26, 2022. The vehicle, which is registered to the male’s mother, was impounded for 45 days.
Male arrested after several no-shows
A Guelph male wanted for repeatedly failing to appear in court was arrested again Tuesday.
Just before 6 a.m., Guelph Police Service officers met with officers of a neighbouring jurisdiction who had arrested the male on an outstanding warrant. A 55-year-old Guelph male faces six counts of failing to appear in court and failing to comply with an undertaking.
He will appear in a Guelph court Wednesday.
