Two arrested in theft of $7k in bicycles
Two people have been arrested after nearly $7,000 worth of bicycles were stolen from a residential garage last month.
Shortly after 5 a.m. February 10, three people were caught on video entering the garage of a home near Norfolk Street and Liverpool Street. They fled with three high-end bicycles with a total value of $6,900.
On Tuesday, a 39-year-old Guelph woman turned herself in to police on an unrelated matter and was arrested for break and enter. On Wednesday a 44-year-old Guelph man was located downtown and arrested on the same charge. Both were released with upcoming court dates.
The third person has not yet been arrested.
Cash, jewelry stolen in home break-in
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a home in the Exhibition Park area was entered Wednesday.
Just before 2 p.m., police were called to a home near Westmount Road and Campion Avenue. The homeowner advised she was out for approximately four hours and came home to find the rear door had been kicked in and several rooms ransacked.
Jewelry, cash and electronics including a laptop and iPad were stolen. The total value is estimated at more than $6,000.
The incident remains under investigation. Youths arrested in break-in
Two Guelph teens were arrested after breaking into a downtown-area business Wednesday evening.
Just after 6 p.m. police were notified two people had used a sledgehammer while entering a business near Dufferin Street and George Street. Nothing was reported stolen.
Officers located the suspects a short time later on Cardigan Street and arrested them after a brief foot pursuit.
A 17-year-old Owen Sound boy and 14-year-old Guelph boy are each charged with break and enter. They will appear in court in June.
Another Tundra stolen
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after another Toyota Tundra was reported stolen Wednesday. It was the third theft of the popular pickup in Guelph this week.
Approximately 7:35 a.m. a resident near Rickson Avenue and Rodgers Road reported his white 2024 Tundra missing from the driveway. The owner reported the vehicle was stolen despite being equipped with a steering lock and computer lock.
On Tuesday morning, residents in the east and west ends of the city also reported their Tundras stolen from their driveways overnight. It is not known if any of the incidents are related.
