‘Porch pirate’ fled police
The Guelph Police Service is asking for the public’s help after a man stole from the porch of a Guelph home and later fled police who tried to pull him over.
On March 15, a resident near Arkell Road and Amos Drive reported a theft from his home. Approximately 9 a.m. he received notification on his phone about movement on his surveillance cameras. He checked the footage and noted a male parking a white Hyundai Venue in his driveway before removing a package from the porch. The package contained a watch band and other items with a value of approximately $60.
The suspect was described as a white male with a medium build. He was wearing a red ‘Crooks’ hoodie, black sweatpants, black sneakers and a black and red hat. The vehicle was determined to have fake licence plates attached.
Approximately 2:45 a.m. March 16, the investigating officer spotted the vehicle in the area of Edinburgh Road South and Wilsonview Avenue. When he attempted to stop it the driver took off and was last seen on College Avenue West towards the Hanlon Expressway.
