Male arrested while riding stolen bike
A 50-year-old male was arrested early Wednesday morning while being in possession of an electric bicycle that had been stolen Tuesday afternoon.
On Tuesday, November 5, at approximately 2:00 PM, at an address near Norfolk Street and Paisley Road, two individuals were observed checking bicycles in a bike rake for locks. The individuals were seen to cut the lock off a Quest E-bike, valued at $1900 and take the bike before anyone was able to stop them.
On Wednesday morning at approximately 1:10 AM, Officers observed a male party riding a bike resembling the one taken. The individual on the bike matched the description and was wearing some of the same clothing as one of the individuals seen taking the bike on CCTV footage.
Upon stopping the male Police were able to identify him and confirm the bike as the one stolen Tuesday afternoon.
The male was arrested for Theft Under $5,000 and released with a court date of Friday, December 13, 2024.

Debit card taken in distraction theft
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a debit card was switched and later used fraudulently, multiple times for a total of $2,600.
It was reported that on Tuesday evening, at approximately 11:00 PM, a Guelph resident attended a bank on Woodlawn Road, where a conversation took place with another male at the ATM inside the bank. After the conversation it was discovered that the male had switched debit cards with the victim during the conversation.

The switched debit card was later used at multiple locations throughout the city for a total of $2,600.
The male was described as an Asian Male, 40-50 years of age and goes by Mr. Wong. At the time of the interaction the male was wearing a white baseball hat.

$1,600 in merchandise taken from business
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after approximately $1,600 in merchandise was taken from a business near the intersection of Paisley Road and Elmira Road.
It was reported that on Tuesday morning at approximately 11:25 AM a male was observed on CCTV taking items from the store shelf, placing them in a reusable shopping bag, and exiting the store making no attempts to pay for the items.
The male is described as wearing grey pants, a dark blue Adidas top with white stripes on the arms, white sneakers, and having a black moustache and black hair The male we described as 25-30 years of age, with a medium build.
