Drug Arrest
On Friday, September 27, 2024, the Guelph Police Service initiated a theft investigation involving the theft of gas. The investigation led to the identification of the suspect, a 40-year-old Guelph male. An arrest warrant was issued for this male.
On Thursday, October 3, 2024, while conducting routine patrol, officers observed the suspect vehicle involved in the theft being operated in the parking lot of a residential apartment complex on Woolwich. At approximately 10pm, the vehicle was stopped and the wanted male was identified and arrested.
Police allege there was clear indication of drug use in the vehicle. Police continued to investigate, and this resulted in the male being further charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance (suspected methamphetamine and hydromorphone pills).
The accused was released with a November 19, 2024, court date.
Impaired Driving
On October 3, 2024, at approximately 8:40pm, while on routine patrol, police allege officers observed a vehicle make a turn from Victoria Road on to the oncoming traffic on Eramosa Road. Police allege the vehicle was observed mounting the curb to avoid a collision.
Police immediately blocked the lane and spoke to the driver. As a result of the subsequent investigation, an 81-year-old Kitchener female was charged with operation while impaired and operation 80 and above.
The accused was released with a November 19, 2024, court date.
Refuse to Provide Sample – Arrest
On October 3, 2024, Guelph police received a driving complaint on College Avenue. The plate of the vehicle was obtained, and police were able to locate the vehicle shortly after the complaint. Officers spoke to the driver, and it is alleged there were grounds to enter into an impaired driving investigation. The male driver was issued a “breath demand” under the Criminal Code. The male refused to comply and was placed under arrest.
The 41-year-old Guelph male was charged with refuse to comply with demand under the Criminal Code.
The accused was given a November 19, 2024 court date.
