Hatchet brandished during robbery
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a hatchet was brandished during a robbery at a business Thursday evening.
Approximately 6:40 p.m. police were called to a business on Wellington Street West. An employee had seen a male leaving the business with a shopping cart full of merchandise. When the employee went to investigate, a second male exited a vehicle while holding up a hatchet.
The employee continued to try to stop the theft and sustained minor injuries after he was dragged approximately five metres by the fleeing vehicle. He declined medical treatment. The suspects fled with approximately $600 worth of product.

Witnesses sought to hit and run
The Guelph Police Service is seeking witnesses or dash camera footage after a male was struck by a vehicle which fled the area Thursday morning.
Just after 8 a.m., a 65-year-old Guelph male was crossing Clair Road West at Gosling Gardens when he was struck and knocked down by a vehicle turning left. The driver stopped briefly and then left the area.
The victim sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment. The involved vehicle was described as a dark-coloured sedan, possibly a Hyundai.

Honda Civic stolen
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a vehicle was stolen this week from a downtown residence.
The victim called police just after 11 a.m. Thursday. The black 2012 Honda Civic was stolen from a driveway on Fountain Street West sometime since 7:15 p.m. Wednesday. It has a Maryland licence plate and bike rack and was missing the driver’s side hubcaps.

Theft being investigated
The Guelph Police Service is investigating the theft of more than $2,000 in makeup and skin care products from a business Thursday.
Approximately 5:50 p.m. police were called to a business in the area of Silvercreek Parkway North and Willow Road. A male had fled through a fire exit after stealing products. He was described as a white male in his late 30s wearing a black baseball cap and shorts and carrying a black shopping basket.
